What a Slacker!

I know, I know, I am a major slacker when it comes to blog posts. Sorry but as expected, life has been hectic. So, here is an overview with some highlights.

My not-so-hired help, Tom got recruited to put together the Ikea furniture.

My beautiful roses that Tom got me. They look so nice in my Craigslist vase which also came with...

These doorknob decorations that were yellow, red and the green that you see. I painted to yellow and green ones and added scrapbook paper to fit with my color scheme. I love them, and they look so cute in the dining room!

My new best friend, Raid for wasps! I'm starting a personal war with the wasps on my patio. But this is my secret weapon, kills on contact! In my defense I tried to go green and use a green bug spray but it took about half a bottle to kill one wasp (it ventured into my apartment...that was NOT happening). So I switched to traditional poison and it is awesome.

So there you have it, my all-in-one update. I promise more in-depth updates in the near future.

Chugging Along...slowly

The decorating is coming along. Still no couch or chairs, but I have faith that I'll have at least a couch next week. Again, these pictures aren't the best but you get the idea. And sorry for the short and sweet posts, I'll be more creative once I'm in my own space instead of the clubhouse.

Day #3

It is officially day #3 in the new place and I am loving it! There is no internet yet so I'm at my parent's house updating and checking emails. Move in day was a riot. Mom, dad, Rick and even my cousin Sam volunteered their time (and muscles) to the cause. We laughed, we cried, we ate free pizza. Overall it was a great day and now I am faced with the task of unpacking, organizing and decorating the thing. So far the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom are mostly set up. My wonderful walk in closet is now color coded, that was a must! New towels for the bathroom are in the dryer as we speak. And thanks to Kohl's gift cards a good number of items are ready to tidy up the place.

Small details (like bar stools, dining table and chairs, sofa, and television) have yet to make their appearance. But have no fear, all in good time. I'll put pictures up soon, for now it's off to search for more great buys...TJ Maxx here I come!

Let's go Sailing....Garage Saling That Is

I decided to venture out (in the 100 degree weather!) with my mom in tow this morning to check out local garage sales for some apartment stuff. There weren't alot of people with their trash-to-treasure set out for the world to buy, but I did manage to find some fun things.

1. A white-framed mirror perfect for my entry way or somewhere in the living room.
2. Deep blue vase
3. A glass cookie jar with a silver lid
4. Glass elephant figurine (yes, there is a story which I'll explain in it's own post at a later time)
5. Two small glass jars perfect for storing sugar in the kitchen or maybe cotton balls in the bathroom or any number of small items
6. Small basket for...something

And the best part, all of that and I spent no more than $10. Love it.

Also on the agenda today was painting my second side table. (Eddie Bauer for Valspaar paint in Shore) Overall a very accomplished day. I'll have pictures of all my bargain finds but I think I'll wait until they're in the new space.

The Space

It's not alot, but here are a few pictures of the new place. More to come.
My huge bathroom...my very own. I love it!

Built-in desk in the kitchen. This is where these posts will be created starting next week!

My lovely kitchen, I just love looking at it. It says home to me. Maybe now I'll actually start cooking. Ok, we'll see about that.

Happy Birthday!

No...it's not my birthday, it's the blog's birthday silly! I found and became slightly obsessed with Young House Love so naturally when it came time to start thinking about furniture and decor for my very first apartment, I thought of blogging the whole adventure. This may be a bit ambitious because I can guarantee that there will be days/weeks that I definitely do not have time to update. So bear with me, I'm new to the blogging world and have no idea who is actually going to read this. Also, beware that not all posts will necessarily be about the apartment. I reserve the right to deviate as desired.

All that said I will try my best to make it a must read...ok, so maybe it'll just be a must write for me but a girl can hope right?! And so begins my journey of turning my first apartment into a pretty little place to call home. Enjoy.
